Screen Printing Begins

I've finally been able to start screen printing my calico for my cushions, having been delayed by a water leak in my studio! The printing process at home in such a small space is stressful to say the least, but I think I'm getting the hang of it so the next batch will be better. I'm printing on calico with permaset aqua textile ink and the cushions are being stuffed and stitched together with various patterned backing fabrics.

Gift Tags

I've been making gift tags for the fair. These were made by combining 18th century illustrations by Thomas Bewick with modern graphic fonts. They have a to: and from: on the back as well. I'm really happy with them but don't know what to price them at. Is 50p too cheap or too expensive? I dunno!

Organizing

I've been organizing some of the drawings I did to figure out layouts for my canvas bags. This is my homemade screen printing set up in my studio. Still waiting for my fabric inks to arrive! Then I'll get started printing.

New Cards

These are photos of two greeting cards I made recently. The top card is done with a custom rubber stamp of my wren drawing. I had the stamp made at english stamp company. The bottom card is my drawing of a scops owl, I also printed an address box on the front of the envelope.

BCTF preparation

So much work still to do for the trade fair in April! It's quite overwhelming. My favourite things to draw at the minute are owls. I also watched the film Legend of the Guardians and really enjoyed it! So I am quite obsessed with them. The barn owl at the top and the long eared owl above will both be screen printed onto canvas bags and made into prints too.

Made in The Shade

This is The Maisonette in Glasgow. Its owned by the two ladies who are Made In The Shade. I've never been out of fear I would empty my bank account! I love shop layouts like this when they use vintage furniture, there's so much to look at. It's exactly what my shop would be like if I had one! Once I've made a few more products, I'd love to get in touch with Carrie and Clare who run the whole thing. Made In The Shade also do a weekly indie market called Supermercado at The Barras Centre in Glasgow, every saturday I think. If you want to find out more about them, click the link above xx

I will never get bored of a mustache on a stick!

Hello old friend

Can't believe how long it's been since I last posted something! This is probably not a good start to a new year! I'm now working towards the British Craft Trade Fair in April. Scary stuff! I will be posting work in progress and photos of stall and as usual a lot of pretty things to look at....

LONDON

When I was in London for the D&AD exhibition we had the hottest weather! I got to spend a few days looking around London in the sunshine. One of my favourite places was Colombia Rd. which came to life on a sunday when they have a weekly flower market. A few of these photos are from there and a few from other odd things I liked.
