Design Market

I recently went to Design market at The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. There was loads of lovely things I wanted to buy but I have no money so had to settle for taking a note of their names so I could buy their work at a later date.

Firstly I was blown away by these beautiful illustrations by the lindstrom effect. I'm not quite sure how they get this effect, i think it might be water colour first then they drop the white line drawing on top digitally? But I honestly don't know. I want both of their bird prints in my house right now! They are such a reasonable price too.

I was also in awe of some of Robbie Porter's work. I wish I could use a computer as well as he obviously can! These are two of my favourites from his website....www.robbieporter.co.uk

This is an amazing screen print by Verity Keniger, it has 34 layers! I am so jealous of her amazing talent and screen printing abilities! see more of her work here...www.veritykeniger.co.uk

Webcams

Have a look at these amazing webcams on the Springwatch website. Following buzzard, oystercatcher, redstarts and heron. The photo above is of a common redstart nest. It is a beautifully coloured bird and I just found out that it's eggs are this amazing colour blue. So pretty!

Urban Igloo

If you live in Edinburgh, you may have heard of this little gem in Portobello. But I just discovered it a few weeks ago. A lovely wee space filled with quirky gifts, vintage finds and up-cycled furniture. I went in to show the lovely owner Roseanne some of my work and was happy to find that she loves birds too! At the moment she is selling a few of my cards and gift tags and hopefully more of my work soon. Urban Igloo are also in the middle of opening up their basement to stock more of their fabulous furniture. Click on the link to find out how to get there.

Here are photos of the chalkboards I made, the top one is a grey wagtail and the bottom is a grey partridge. I also have an eider duck one and I will be making lots more. They will retail at £24.00 each.

More BCTF

BCTF 2011

The BCTF is over now, it was very tiring but fun. I met lots of lovely people, both buyers and exhibitors. I also had some really nice comments about my work, so thank you to everyone I met during the fair! Here are some photos of my stand.....

PROGRESS

Work for BCTF is coming along. Can't believe there's less than a week to go! There's still so much to do. I've been busy recently organizing my cushions and finding somewhere I could get them made. The lovely Gill Sinclair from Sinclairs in Edinburgh made my first batch of them to take to the fair with me and I'm really happy with the results. Thanks Gill!
